2014

An original concert number to celebrate the 2014 Commonwealth games to be held in Glasgow.  A bright breezy piece, with at its heart a representation of "2014" in a motto based on a sequence of quavers: first 2 quavers, then a quaver rest (0), then 1 quaver, then 4 quavers.

2014 motto

The contrasting, more stately section is based on the last 4 quavers of this motto, converted to crotchets, and ascending rather than descending, set in the subdominant key.

2014 motto (2)

The rest of the piece wraps itself around this thematic material.  Complete sets are available in the same key for Brass Band, Orchestra and Wind Band which means it should be possible to put together a collection of parts for whatever instruments you are using.  And of course, no charge!
